Our story

Ai4SPACE is a deep-tech commercial start-up built on knowledge and research expertise of the multi-award winning space research lab (STAR LAB). The company founder Professor Yang Gao FIET FRAeS, is a world renowned space roboticist who also founded the STAR LAB back in 2007. Prof. Gao has over 20 years of R&D experience in spacecraft autonomy and been involved in various real-world space mission development.

The company offers software-defined, AI-enabled solutions and technologies that can achieve cost-effective smart 3D perception and relative navigation capabilities for future spacecraft. Our technologies offer major potentials of cost reduction in spacecraft mass, volume and power during navigation, guidance and control (GNC), hence will benefit many commercial initiatives that can then use nano- to micro-satellites for In-Orbit Servicing and Manufacturing (IOSM) including active debris removal, satellite refuelling, recycling, diagnostics and recovery.
